About Pomona
Pomona, California is a city of over 150,000 people at the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, where the San Gabriel Valley meets the Inland Empire. It is bordered by Ontario to the east, Chino to the southeast, Diamond Bar to the south, and Claremont to the north. The 10, 60, and 71 freeways all run through or near the city. Pomona's housing stock is among the oldest in the region - a large share of homes were built between 1940 and 1970, with the Lincoln Park neighborhood in central Pomona containing Victorian and Craftsman homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s, some of which are on the National Register of Historic Places. Most homes are modest-sized ranch-style and bungalow properties on 5,000 to 7,000 square-foot lots with stucco exteriors, original concrete flatwork, and tight side yard access.
The city has a homeownership rate of around 47 to 50 percent - lower than the national average - but that still represents tens of thousands of owner-occupied properties whose owners are responsible for maintaining concrete driveways, sidewalks, and patios that in many cases have never been replaced since the home was built. Pomona is also home to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) on the eastern edge of the city, and the Fairplex, home of the Los Angeles County Fair, near the western border off the 10 freeway. We serve Pomona homeowners alongside our work in neighboring Chino and Ontario, and our crews cover all three cities on a regular basis.
